Hey! My name is Jaclyn May Horowitz, and welcome to my corner of the Internet. I’m a web, mobile, and software developer, student of the internet sociology, a medicine woman in formation, and a yogi.
I recently graduated from NYU Gallatin, where I designed an individualized concentration in “Liberation Technologies.” During my coursework, I began both a technical and philosophical exploration of the relationship between technology and political, personal, and spiritual freedom.
I’m obsessed with how the the “natural” or “human” emerges on modern, mechanical mediums, as well as the use of technical, material tools to better understand and tap into a more mystical consciousness. I’ve written a lot about these subjects and developed a 2-credit course, entitled Approaching the Technoself, that was offered at NYU.
My formal education has been supplemented with 4 months of studying at an institute of mystical arts and sciences, located in the Sacred Valley of Peru, which further fueled my passion to serve mystical and meditative purposes through technological means. At Muyol Willka Hampi: Center for Mystical Arts and Sciences, I began my formation as a medicine woman, studying natural medicine and sacred plants. I hope to walk this path of medicine person, as both a leader, a servant, and student of life in all that I do.
But back here on Earth, I have a full-stack web, software, and mobile development background through work at the Bitcoin exchange Coinsetter, the design agency Levin+Reigner, my own freelance work, and personal projects. I built LookSee – VR, a iOS tool for rapid VR-prototyping and viewing that was released through L+R on the app store in May 2016.
I also have interest and experience in technology strategy and business innovation, beginning with the opportunity I had to work directly for SoundCloud’s SVP of Engineering on developing SoundCloud’s 2016-2018 technology strategy.
Holler at me on LinkedIn or GitHub. Or reach me directly by email. I’d love to hear from you and discuss creative collaborations, technology, and spirituality!
